What is the meaning of Jacob’s ladder, and does it still hold relevance today? Jacob’s Ladder symbolizes God’s eternal promise to Jacob (and to us). We explore the ladder’s significance as a representation of Christ and the connection between heaven and earth. This promise was given to Jacob during uncertain times, demonstrating how God uses uncertainty to show His care and strength.
God has been faithful to me and continues to be so every day. We need to abide in Him daily and ask, “Lord, what do you want me to start doing? What do you need me to continue doing or do more of? And finally, what do you need me to stop doing?” God answered this prayer for the rich young ruler directly as ‘one thing thou lackest’. The ruler did not follow through because he had great riches and chose them over discipleship of Christ. In contrast, Jacob abides in faith and receives the fulfillment of God’s promise.
